At The Fine Grainery, I'm based in Fluvanna County in Central Virginia and serve Charlottesville, Richmond, Lynchburg, Harrisonburg, and the surrounding areas with CNC slab flattening and epoxy flattening services. Whether you're preparing live edge slabs, laminated glue-ups, or tabletops with or without epoxy, my equipment delivers precise, smooth results while keeping the natural beauty of your materials intact.
My CNC machine runs on an industrial 12 HP motor with a fully steel-welded frame, and operates faster and more efficiently than traditional setups, so I can handle large-scale projects with ease. Using a 3" carbide-tipped flattening bit, I get you a smooth finish surface — it'll still need sanding and finishing for a fully polished look, but you'll save many hours of work getting to a perfectly flat, coplanar surface.

Affordable and Transparent Pricing
Typical slab flattening is priced hourly, running $100–$150/hr with most jobs taking at least 1.5–2 hours. I do things differently — my pricing is based on the square footage of material per side, regardless of how much needs to come off. That way you never have to wonder when the clock starts or stops.
Non-Epoxy Filled Slabs: $5 per square foot
Epoxy-Filled Slabs: $7.50 per square foot
The epoxy pricing applies if more than 50% of the total square footage of the material contains epoxy fill.
Minimum cost is $50 if the total surfacing square footage is under 10 square feet, roughly 36” x 40” or 24” x 60” single sided. However, double sided flattening is recommended for a coplanar final product. To calculate your per-sided estimate, use the calculator below.
